Tanzanite is a very unusual gemstone in that it is only found in the country of Tanzania and in a 20 square mile area of the country. It was discovered in 1967 and named after the country by Tiffany’s. Tanzanite has become one of the most favorite gemstone in the world, after the big three, and it is easy to understand why.
There can be an advantage in buying estate or old stock tanzanite jewelry over new and that is because it is getting harder and harder to find that beautiful deep purple/blue color that is so desired.
